High Tunnels Farm Tour at Sprouting Dreams Farm

  • Thursday, May 8, 2025, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

See how high tunnels can protect crops from unpredictable weather, pests, and disease while also helping to extend the growing season and improve yields.

Follow along for a farm tour from Eugene Thalmann, owner of Sprouting Dreams Farm, and take a look at how he is using high tunnels on his farm.

This interactive farm tour and workshop will take place at Sprouting Dreams Farm, where high tunnels are actively in use. You will get a guided walk-through of several high tunnel setups, and hear directly from Eugene Thalmann about what’s worked and what hasn’t. You'll be able to see firsthand how these structures help manage risk from early frosts to heavy rains and pest pressure at Sprouting Dreams Farm.

Join us for:

  1. an overview of high tunnel benefits and challenges
  2. a guided farm tour with stops inside high tunnels to discuss construction, ventilation, irrigation, and crop choices
  3. a farmer Q&A about risk mitigation strategies, seasonal planning, and lessons learned
