Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County is a proud partner of the Upper Delaware BioBlitz.

A BioBlitz is an event where biology experts and volunteers gather to collect, identify, and catalogue every living thing on a demarcated property in a 24 hour period.

Teams are formed, led by a team leader, to focus on particular categories of life.

For our BioBlitz we have the following 9 teams, overseen by a steering committee and team leaders:

Aquatic Macroinvertebrates (Aquatic Insects)
Birds
Botany (Plants)
Fish
Fungi (Mushrooms and Molds)
Herps (Reptiles and Amphibians)
Terrestrial Invertebrates (Insects, Worms, Snails)

NEW PEST ALERT

There have been confirmed sightings of Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) in New York State.

This invasive pest poses a risk to NYS agriculture, ornamental and timber industries, as well as all NYS residents' quality of life. Please help spread the word about this invasive pest to aid in the early detection and response.

If you think you have found Spotted Lanternfly please report it using the information found in the press release or the fact sheet below.

SLF can jump and fly short distances, but they spread mostly through human activity and hitch rides to new areas when they lay their eggs on vehicles, firewood, outdoor furniture, stone, etc. For this reason awareness is even more important! See links below.
