Joy Leon is a Nutrition & Physical Activity Educator with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County, where she has spent more than three years helping individuals and families build healthy habits through nutrition education, physical activity, and hands-on learning experiences. A Sullivan County native, Joy holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from American University and has a diverse background in food service, nutrition, wellness, and community education.
Joy is a certified dance-fitness instructor and certified yoga teacher (CYT-200). She has taught a variety of evidence-based health and wellness programs, including Eat Healthy, Be Active (in-person and online); Cooking Matters in Your Community; Warrior Kids; the Fitness Trail Walk Series; New York Agriculture in the Classroom lessons; and the Friday Fitness Dance Aerobic Series.
Her professional credentials include completion of the National Nutrition Certification Program through Utah State University, a Public Health Essentials Certificate from Cornell University, a ServSafe Food Handler Certificate, CITI Human Subjects Research training, CPR certification, and Yoga & Mindfulness in the Pre-K Classroom training. In 2025, she was recognized as a Young Professionals Top Up & Comers honoree.
Joy enjoys connecting people with practical tools for healthy living and values the opportunity to combine her passions for food, fitness, community, and lifelong learning through her work. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors, trying new recipes, reading, and practicing dance and yoga.
