This workshop is part of a collaborative effort between Sullivan County, CCE Sullivan, and the Orange County Land Trust to explore long-term strategies for preserving working lands and rural character in the region. Learn what Community Preservation Acts are, how they are implemented across the Hudson Valley, and what steps municipalities and counties can take to adopt them.
The workshop will open with an overview of Sullivan County’s growing farmland preservation efforts and partnership with Orange County Land Trust, followed by presentations from Michael Sweeton (OCLT) who will break down what a CPA is, how the funds are collected and used, and what steps local communities can take to implement one. You will also hear real-world examples of communities that have implemented CPA's. This class will finish by allowing you to participate in Q&A session to discuss and share.
Planning and Zoning Board Members may be eligible to receive 2 trainings credits.
