  • Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Learn about zoning tools and planning practices that support farmland preservation and agricultural viability.

Gain a deeper understanding of how local land use policies can encourage sustainable land stewardship, reduce farmland fragmentation, and promote farm-friendly development. This training will provide practical guidance on integrating agriculture into comprehensive plans and zoning codes to help ensure long-term agricultural resilience in Sullivan County.

Planning and Zoning Board Members may be eligible to receive 2 trainings credits.

Engage in an interactive learning environment designed to foster conversation and practical application. The training will feature a presentation from Michael Sweeton with Orange County Land Trust on zoning practices and examples, and lead into a group discussions that explore how zoning and land use planning can support working farms.

Learn more about:

  • zoning language
  • planning challenges
  • how to apply farm-friendly strategies within your own municipalities.
