Growing Healthy Soil with Cover Crops on small Farms & Market Gardens

  • Tuesday, August 29, 2023, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

This workshop is for anyone looking to explore how cover crops can grow healthy soil. Bobolink farm's owner, Brenda Miller, will take us on a farm walk explaining how she evaluates the soil on her farm and the how she utilized cover crops to grow healthy, resilient soil.

The cover crop workshop will take place at Bobolink Farm, a diversified vegetable and herb operation in Liberty, owned and operated by Brenda Miller. Brenda will begin the workshop with an explanation emphasizing the importance of soil health for a successful farm operation and how to use cover crops as a method for improving soil health. Following the explanation, Brenda will lead a farm walk around the property. Brenda consistently uses cover crops in her crop rotations at Bobolink Farm, because of this she will be able to show a variety of different cover crops and explain their uses and benefits. Following the talk and walk, there will be time allocated for questions, especially addressing specific questions for people's farm operations.
