Introduction to Beekeeping

  • Tuesday, August 21, 2018, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

The steady decline in honey bee populations has been cause for alert in recent years. The health of populations can be directly influenced by community members and homeowners by keeping bees.

Participants will learn about the important role that honey bees play as pollinators of food crops, how to keep bee hives at home, and how to help protect and sustain their populations.

There will be a brief history of beekeeping, discussion and demonstration about how to keep bee hives at home, and a brief presentation on how to encourage all pollinators in the home environment.

Technical advice is available to those interested in starting or need help maintaining bee hives.
