Beginning Farmer Tailgate Talks - August

  • Monday, August 20, 2018, 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM

More than 20% of farmers are beginning farmers, with less than ten years of farming experience, according to the national Farm Bureau.

A unique Beginning Farmer Tailgate Talks series of rotating farm-hosted potlucks, intended for new and beginning farmers, will conclude Monday, August 20, 2018 at Gorzynski Ornery Farm on 7460 Route 52 in Narrowsburg, NY. Tailgate Talks will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. Participants are asked to bring a dish or beverage to share.

Gorzynski Ornery Farm was created by owner John Gorzynski almost forty years ago. Gorzynski Ornery Farm is a diverse farm that produces over 500 varieties of vegetables and fruit. The farm generates its own fertility derived from a crop rotation that favors more green manure and fallow than production. The products are available at farmers’ markets, Union Square, and restaurants.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC) offers this FREE series of practical discussions about farming and marketing products throughout the growing season, from the point of view of successful farmers in the Sullivan Catskills. Participants can network, learn the diversity of industry options available, and develop relationships within the agricultural community.

This series is FREE. Registration can be completed online.

In the event of special needs, please contact the CCESC office.
