Schools, municipalities, organizations, and businesses in Sullivan County faced a healthy challenge this year to make a commitment to worksite wellness and put promises into practice.
Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC), Catskill Regional Medical Center, Eat Smart New York of the Hudson Valley Region, HealthLinkNY, Sullivan County Public Health Services, Sullivan Renaissance & Sullivan 180, and the American Heart Association worked with organizations to show that “health means business” in Sullivan County, initiating a worksite wellness competition for local employers in early 2017.
The CCESC 103rd Annual Meeting will celebrate the champions of this challenge on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 with special awards and recognition. This free event will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at New Hope Community on 5 New Hope Community Drive in Loch Sheldrake. Healthy refreshments will be provided by New Hope Community, sponsored by Catskill Regional Medical Center.
Jonathan Schiller, CEO of Catskill Regional Medical Center is this year’s keynote speaker. New CCESC board members will be elected with grateful acknowledgements offered to volunteers reaching the end of their term.
The traditional Friends of Extension awards will follow, recognizing this year’s outstanding supporters, including volunteers Helene Glatt, Lucy Smassanow, and Beverly Hesse; partners Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, and Miss Monticello Diner; and Extension Professional of the Year Marylin Jones!
The winner of a rustic curly maple wine bar, hand crafted by John Kline, will be drawn at the Annual Meeting. Participants need not be present to win. Tickets can be purchased at the event or before Dec 5 at the Extension Education Center on 64 Ferndale-Loomis Road in Liberty.
