Bonnie, a Registered Nurse, has worked for CCESC for over 19 years as a Dependent Care Educator, coordinating the Caregiver Resource Center in partnership with the Sullivan County Office for the Aging. Working within the Extension’s youth and family development division, Bonnie provides classes and resources to seniors, informal family caregivers and the community appropriate to caring for an ill, aging or frail individuals as well as classes related to senior health and well-being. She also facilitates support groups in two locations in Sullivan County for family caregivers. Family caregivers and seniors are invited to meet Bonnie for one on one consultations to gather appropriate resources, referrals and guidance to support the care receiver’s needs. Bonnie’s CRC program has also partnered with other organizations to meet specific health focused needs, including a partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter and the NYS Department of Health Chronic Disease Self-Management program.
Bonnie is board certified as a SUNY Geriatric Scholar, NYS DOH Tai Chi instructor for fall prevention, Peer Leader for Chronic Disease Self-Management under Stanford Patient Education Research Center/NYS QTAC and as a Powerful Tools for Caregivers leader. Bonnie graduated from Charles S. Wilson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and worked at Catskill Regional Medical Center for over 18 years as a pediatric nurse. She lives in the Town of Neversink with her husband Barry and two dogs and is the proud grandma of Catherine Rose.
