 Build on existing bone mass and prevent future bone lossHelp maintain bone mass as you agePrevent fracturesThen this class is for you!BONE BUILDERS is an exercise program designed to help individuals aged 65+ maintain bone mass and build on existing bone mass but is open to all. Osteoporosis is a major public health threat for more than 44 million Americans, 80% of whom are women. A "silent disease," bone loss usually occurs without symptoms. People may not know they have osteoporosis until their bones become so fragile that a fracture occurs.This program will feature light exercises with hand weights with instruction provided by trained CCE Volunteer - Joy Mendelsohn, MD.This program will take place weekly on Thursdays 11 am - 12 pm, September 10th - November 19th, 2026 at the Western Sullivan Public Library Community Room in Jeffersonville.Bring a water bottle, floor mat or towel, and your own 1-2 lb. weights!The Caregiver Resource Center is a co-partnered program between Cornell Cooperative Extension and Office for the Aging of Sullivan County and is supported by a grant from the NYS Office for the Aging’s Caregiver Program.Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County provides equal program and employment opportunities.
