Catskills Kitchen Food Business Incubator Program

Welcome to the Catskills Kitchen for food business start-ups and community members! The Catskills Kitchen consists of a NYS Department of Health commercial kitchen, and a second educational cooking kitchen.

Sullivan County’s first shared-use kitchen and interactive classroom

Demand for fresh, healthy and locally grown food is growing in the United States – and we want to make sure that Sullivan County has a dedicated facility and educational program where the output of our local agricultural community can be transformed by local entrepreneurs, into food products that find their way onto the shelves of the small-scale retailers on our Main Streets.

Our Catskills Kitchen Food Business Incubator Program provides the technical assistance you need to start your own food business, or even expand an existing business. We offer a variety of educational programs for both the beginner and expert.

We provide resources and programming on the following:

  • Business Planning
  • Marketing
  • Financing Resources
  • Food Processing Rules and Regulations
  • Training in Value-Added Production
  • Food Labeling Requirements
  • Packaging and Distribution
  • Certification Training
  • Food Safety Classes
  • Assistance with navigating the licensing and permitting process
  • Assistance with accessing markets and purchasing from local farms

Not only do we provide technical assistance and educational program to help you start or expand your food business, but you can produce food products in a licensed kitchen facility in the Sullivan Catskills Kitchen! Serving farmers, restauranteurs, bakers, caterers, and other specialty food entrepreneurs.

Catskills Kitchen Educational Cooking Program

The Catskills Kitchen also offers educational programing on nutrition and cooking, in our new Teaching Kitchen. The Teaching Kitchen has individual cooking stations and new state-of-the-art educational technology utilizing cameras and Zoom Rooms. The teaching program currently hosts online cooking videos, hosted by staff, professional chefs and volunteers. The classes aim to teach the community about using local, seasonal ingredients, easy cooking tips and nutritional recipes. Check out our videos to sharpen your cooking skills.
