POSTPONED - Compost Happens!

  • Tuesday, August 28, 2018, 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Compost is decomposed organic material made with things like leaves, shredded twigs, and kitchen scraps from plants. To gardeners, compost is considered "black gold" because of its many benefits in the garden. Adding compost to clay soils makes them easier to work and plant. In sandy soils, the addition of compost improves the water holding capacity of the soil. By adding organic matter to the soil, compost can help improve plant growth and health. Composting is also a good way to recycle leaves and other yard waste. (https://extension.illinois.edu/compost/process.cfm)

Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC) offers a basic Compost Happens! workshop for beginners on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. This program will be held at the Extension Education Center on 64 Ferndale-Loomis Road in Liberty.
