Beginning Farmer Tailgate Talks - July

  • Tuesday, July 10, 2018, 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM

More than 20% of farmers are beginning farmers, with less than ten years of farming experience, according to the national Farm Bureau.

A unique Beginning Farmer Tailgate Talks series of rotating farm-hosted potlucks, intended for new and beginning farmers, will continue Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Winterton Farms on 689 Winterton Road in Bloomingburg. The discussion will cover maple syrup, honey, vegetable, and lavender production at the Winterton operation. All Tailgate Talks will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. Participants are asked to bring a dish or beverage to share.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC) offers this FREE series of practical discussions about farming and marketing products throughout the growing season, from the point of view of successful farmers in the Sullivan Catskills. Participants can network, learn the diversity of industry options available, and develop relationships within the agricultural community.

Winterton Farms is owned by Kent Finley and Erika Malmgreen. Winterton Farms produces a variety of goods sold locally at farmers’ markets and on the farm through agri-tourism events.

Tailgate Talks series of dates include:

  • Monday, August 20 | Gorzynski Ornery Farm | 7460 Route 52, Narrowsburg
