FSMA & GAP Grower Training

Fruit and vegetable growers and other farmers are invited to a Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) & Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Grower Training on February 27 and 28, 2017. The Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC) course will be held from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm both days at the Extension Education Center on 64 Ferndale-Loomis Road in Liberty. Lunch is included and scholarships are available.

Participants at this FSMA & GAP Grower Training will learn:

  • FSMA Produce Safety Rule and GAPs
  • Co-management of natural resources
  • Food safety requirements and writing farm food safety plan

The course can satisfy requirements for the FSMA Produce Safety Rule and food safety compliance, depending on gross annual farm income.

The training will benefit growers currently selling or interested in selling to food hubs or institutions and those in the NYS Grown and Certified Program.

Cost is $35 per person. Scholarships are available. 

Space is limited and pre-registration with non-refundable payment is required in advance. Seats are only guaranteed with payment. Payment can be made in advance by check, cash, or credit. Additional donations for CCESC programs are appreciated.

Anyone can enroll in CCESC for an annual contribution of $25 per household.
