Free Gardening Seminars

  • Wednesday, April 5, 2017, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
  • Wednesday, June 7, 2017, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Sullivan Renaissance and Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC) are hosting two free gardening seminars. Learn how to create, plant and care for flower and vegetable gardens from the ground up, start to finish! CCESC Master Gardener Volunteers will teach horticulture basics and demonstrate how to use these skills in a garden project. Whether you are already involved in a project, would like to volunteer or just want to grow your own garden— these classes are for you!

“Plan It!” will share the basics of garden design including what will grow on your site, how to test and soil preparation and testing, annual seed sowing and perennial plant division. The second class, “Plant It”, will give tips on choosing the best plants and tools. The Master Gardener Volunteers will demonstrate composting, planting techniques and maintenance tasks.

Classes will be taught by CCESC Master Gardener Volunteers, led by Dayna Gaeta Community Horticulture Program Educator.

Participants may attend one or both of the sessions. Classes will be held at the Gerald J. Skoda Extension Education Center and Teaching Garden, 64 Ferndale-Loomis Road in Liberty from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Space is limited and pre-registration is requested. To register, visit SullivanRenaissance.org or call the Sullivan Renaissance office at 845-295-2445. Event details can also be found on the Sullivan Renaissance Facebook and Twitter pages.
