Canceled: Pruning Apple Trees & More!

 This program has been canceled due to the snow. 

Pruning, if done correctly, can improve the health of trees on one’s property or community garden. An educational presentation about pruning apple and various other fruit trees is offered on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC)’s Master Gardener Volunteer (MGV) program will host this class from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Participants will start at CCESC’s Extension Education Center on 64 Ferndale-Loomis Road in Liberty for an informative session and will continue on to the Delaware Highlands Conservancy NY office for a hands-on portion of the workshop, as a unique opportunity for tactile learning. 

Ryan Trapani, forest educator for Catskill Forest Association, will present pruning basics and a hands-on demonstration of analysis and pruning of older apple trees. Trapani is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certified arborist. 

Cost is $20 per person, $15 per enrollee*, and $5 per Master Gardener Volunteer.

Space is limited and pre-registration with non-refundable payment is required in advance. Seats are only guaranteed with payment. Payment can be made in advance by check, cash, or credit. Additional donations for CCESC programs are appreciated.

*Anyone can enroll in CCESC for an annual contribution of $25 per household.
