2018 SULLIVAN COUNTY DAIRY SITUATION: Marcus Dairy has dropped multiple local dairy farms for various reasons in June 2018, there is a surplus of milk, and we have reached rock bottom milk prices leading to an agricultural crisis for the dairy industry Sullivan County.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County has released a FACT SHEET in response to public demand for venues through which they can express support for the family-owned dairies.

"These farm businesses are families who need private time to address their personal finances, consider options available to them, and reexamine their livelihood. There is a consultant working with these businesses, but there are many considerations in the Dairy industry, which is a highly regulated environment. We can all support the buy local movement, contact our elected officials, and give these families the time and space they need to find a solution."
